Over 70 Permanent Excusal

Pursuant to the Louisiana Constitution, 5:33(B), persons 70 years of age and older may claim an exemption from jury duty if they are summoned and do not wish to serve.

To claim a permanent exemption, complete the form below and press Submit. The 24th Judicial District Court Jury Commission will record your preference accordingly, and you should no longer receive jury service notices.

Important Even if you claim the over 70 exception on the website, you are still responsible for any jury notices you may have received. If you have received a summons for jury duty, call the Jury Pool at (504) 364-3987.
